A/N2 Apologies for any of you who are getting this multiple times, it's cross posted

Jack climbed into bed that night feeling more relaxed than he had for a very long time.  He was especially pleased that Gray had agreed to come and work with him.  He was worried that Owen would feel he was getting his nose pushed out slightly, having Gray work with him on Health and Safety, but Owen had thought it a great idea and they’d spent a great deal of the evening discussing how to divide the H & S issues of the site between them.

Jack lay in bed thinking how lucky he was to have people like his friends and family around him.  He finally drifted off to sleep thinking about some of the things they’d discussed at dinner.

His alarm went off and reaching out a hand to switch it off Jack remembered the previous night and how things for this new build were moving along nicely.  He showered and dressed and like the previous morning when he got to the kitchen Damien and Chris were already there with coffee in the pot and the morning papers on the table.  Damien was sat reading The Times with Chris stood behind him, arms draped around his neck.  Jack’s breath was taken away again at the sight of these two good looking men.  They made such a gorgeous couple.  Stop it Jack, you can’t let them see that you’re jealous, they’re your best friends.  He smiled “morning boys.  How do you manage to be up so early, I thought I was an early bird but you….?”

“Habit Jack, when I’m rehearsing I’m always up around 5 or earlier depending on what’s on the agenda for the day, and I can’t seem to get out of the habit.”

“Right.  Hey the coffee smells good, is there enough for me?”

“Sure, here you go.”

They sat and chatted for about half an hour before Jack bid them goodbye saying he’d have the rest of the contractors sorted today.  He explained that the weekend would be filled with Health and Safety Inductions and the work excavating the foundations would begin on Monday morning.

“We’ve got our things to bring from the hotel this morning.  That’s if it’s still ok for us to stay here?”

“Of course it is.  Look here’s a spare set of keys.  This is your home for as long as you want.  Now I really must go.  Have a good day, I’ve got the last few calls to make this morning then I’ve got my site secretary to interview at 2 and my Assistant Project Manager at 3.  I should be home around 5.”

“No problem, thanks again for letting us stay.  We’ll cook dinner tonight.”

“Mmm sounds great.  See you later.”  Jack retrieved his keys and disappeared out of the front door.

He arrived at the office to be greeted by Dawn “morning Jack, hope you don’t mind but I came in early to sort out the stationery for the site.  I’ve also made sure that Gwen will have a laptop and printer ready to use when she starts on Monday.”

“Wow you have been busy.  Thanks.  She’s coming in at two to have a chat then I’ll hand her over to you so you can go through everything with her.  Rhys her fiancé is coming in too to sign his contract, it’s one of the one’s you typed up yesterday for me.  I hope it’s ok if I leave that job to you, I’ll be seeing Ianto Jones at that time.”

“No problem, isn’t he a friend of Owen’s?”

“Yeah, he’s going to be my APM.”  Jack was remembering the gorgeous Welsh voice and found himself smiling.  He hoped Dawn hadn’t seen that and made a swift exit into his office.

What are you smiling at Jack?  Dawn had seen the faint smile light up her boss’ face at the mention of Mr Jones.  Mmm are you interested in him Jack?  She hoped so, she so wanted to see her boss happy.

“Hey Dawn!  Any chance of one of your fantastic coffee’s to wake me up?”  Jack shouted from his office.

The morning went well and Jack managed to employ more contractors.  He’d found a long time ago that they would take up any job offer Jack had.  He’d built up a reputation for being a good employer.  He never hand any problems finding people, he was a very well respected man.  There was a knock at the door.

“Jack, Gwen Cooper’s here to see you, do you want me to send her in?”

“Can you give me five minutes?  I’ve just got a couple of drawings to print off.  I want to see if Ms Cooper can work the A0 printer, it’s not difficult but awkward.  If she can then that’ll save me doing it.”  He winked at Dawn and smiled.

“Jack Harkness, you’re wicked, do you know that?  You just like seeing someone else get themselves wrapped in the drawings, so you don’t have to fight with them.”

“Yeah, I know, but don’t tell her that.”  They both giggled.  “Look give them both a cup of your fantastic coffee and I’ll come out and get Gwen when I’m ready.”

“Ok, no worries.” And she disappeared.

Although Jack was laughing and joking about the drawings, there was a serious side to his wanting Gwen to use the printer.  It meant if she could handle it he could be out on site with his men rather than be stuck in the office all the time.  He was smiling when he opened his office door.  “Ms Cooper, good afternoon, would you like to come this way please.  Mr Williams, Dawn has your contract for you to read and sign.  Would you like some more coffee?  I’m sure Dawn wouldn’t mind putting more on.”

“No….thank you….I’m good thanks.”

“Ok, well if you’d like to come this way we’ll have a chat.  Dawn, when Mr Jones arrives can you supply him with a coffee and let me know he’s here.”

“Sure Jack, no problem.”

“Great.  Ok Ms Cooper….shall we go and have that chat?”

As the door to the office had opened Gwen had been expecting someone older than the man now stood before her.  Her breath had been taken away, this man was gorgeous.  His blue grey eyes seemed to look into her soul.  She hadn’t been ready for how good looking he was and she stumbled over her words.  Come on Gwen, what’s wrong with you?  She knew the answer to that, she was instantly attracted to this man.  She had to find out more about him.  Ok Gwen, deep breaths, you can’t let him see you fancy him, not yet.  If you’re going to be working with him on site, well who knows what could happen?  She took a deep breath and followed him into his office.  Gwen Cooper you’re spoken for, you love Rhys.  Oh hell Gwen what Rhys doesn’t know won’t hurt him.

“Please have a seat Ms Cooper.”

“That makes me feel old Mr Harkness, please call me Gwen.”

“Ok, Gwen it is and if we’re going to be working in the same office, it’s Jack.”

“Ok, Jack.”

They chatted about what Jack expected her to do and how he would be on site for a good deal of time.  He said that he wasn’t like most site managers who stayed cosy in their offices.  He would get his hands dirty on site and help out if he was needed.

“That’s admiral of you Jack, I’ve worked with some who never stepped foot outside their door until the construction was complete.”

“I think I’ve told you everything you need to know about this particular job.  Damien and Chris are really great guys and you’ll get to meet them once we get going on site.  There’s only one more thing I need to ask you.”

“Oh….right….what’s that?”

“How are you with A0 printers?”

“mmmm it’s been a long time since I used one, my last couple of jobs….well all the drawings were copied at the company’s head offices.”

“Ok, if I show you how this one works then although the one that’s going to be on site is slightly different, you should have an idea.”

“I’ll try not to mess up.  I do know that if you don’t get the drawing straight it won’t feed through properly.”

“Let’s go have a try with this baby here then.”

Jack went over to the printer as Gwen watched.  She tried not to look but her eyes were drawn to Jack’s arse as he walked across the room.  Mmm nice she thought as her eyes moved up and down his back.  As he bent over to pick up a drawing she noticed that his trousers were tight and showed every contour of his arse.  Stop it Gwen, you shouldn’t be thinking those thoughts.  But she found herself wondering what it would be like to be held tight in Jack Harkness’ arms.

“Ok Gwen, would you copy this drawing for me please?”

She moved over to the printer, took the drawing from Jack and purposely brushed her fingers against his.  Mmm smooth hands, not your typical builders calloused fingers.  He must look after himself well.

“You ready Gwen?”

“What….oh, sorry I was just making sure that I knew where the drawing went.”  Stop thinking about Jack and concentrate on what you’re doing, if you get this wrong, you may not get the job.  She moved over to the printer, made sure the blank paper was in the machine ready, then she began to feed the drawing through.  As the paper was feeding through she felt Jack standing behind her.  She could feel her face flush and her breathing got faster.  Her heart felt as though it was running a marathon, she’d not felt anything like this for a long time.  She wondered if Jack could tell the effect he was having on her.  Concentrate Gwen but she could only concentrate on the gorgeous man stood behind her.  Suddenly she realised the drawing had gone out of alignment and it was being eaten by the copier.

“Oh hell!  Sorry Jack, it’s been a while since I used a printer like this.”

“Hey, no worries” he went closer behind her and reached a hand around to help her with the drawing.  His arm was touching hers and she had to really concentrate on her breathing, she couldn’t afford to let him see the effects he was having on her.  Well not yet, that would come when she got to the site.

The drawing went through and as the copy came out she apologised “sorry Jack, it’s not the best of copies.”

“Don’t worry, it’s good enough for me to see that you can handle the copier.  Ok let’s sit down and discuss terms shall we?”

Gwen was thankful to be able to sit, her legs had suddenly turned to jelly.  She was more determined now that this man would not be able to resist her.  What Rhys didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him.

There was a knock at the door and Dawn popped her head around “sorry Jack but Mr Jones has just arrived.”

“Ok, thanks, we’ve just about finished.”

“I’ve supplied him with coffee, so he’s quite happy waiting for you to finish.”

“Gwen, can you start on site on Monday?”

“That would be great Jack, thanks.”

“I’ve got a Health and Safety Induction this weekend, Rhys will be there and I’d like you to be there too.  Any problem with that?”

“No none at all.  I’ll see you then.”  She stood and held out her hand for Jack to shake.  He took it unaware of the effect he was having on his new site secretary.

As he showed Gwen out he was thinking about the gorgeous Welsh vowels he’d heard when he’d spoken to Mr Jones the previous day.  “Thanks for coming in Gwen, I’ll see you at the induction tomorrow.”  Concentrate Jack, act normal, you haven’t seen this man yet he could be….  He stopped in his tracks.  Sitting on the sofa Dawn had in her office was a young man with the bluest of eyes, dark hair and a gorgeous smile.  Jack had to take a deep breath.

“Mr Jones”  Jack held out a hand for Ianto to shake “would you like to come this way please?”

As Ianto shook Jack’s hand, Jack felt a tingling sensation down his spine, he hadn’t felt for a very long time.

Ianto stood and followed Jack into his office.

“Would you like more coffee Mr Jones?”

“Erm….no thank you, I’m good for now.”

“Dawn, I’d like a coffee please, strong if you don’t mind.”  He had to have something to take his mind off his thoughts of this young man infront of him.

“Ten minutes Jack, I’ll have to put some more on.”

“No worries.  Ok Mr Jones let’s go have that chat.”

Ianto followed Jack into his office.  “Please have a seat Mr Jones.”

“Thank you.”  Ianto sat opposite Jack and looked straight into Jack’s eyes.

Jack’s breath was taken away again at the intensity of colour of the young man’s eyes.  “Ok Mr Jones.

“Please would you call me Ianto, Mr Jones makes it sound like you’re speaking to my father.”

“Thanks, Ianto it is.  Right, Owen tells me you’ve just moved back to Cardiff and you’re looking for work?”

“Yeah, I’ve recently been on one of the projects for the 2012 Olympics, but due to personal circumstances I’ve moved back here.  I’m here to stay now, I was thinking about going back, but too many memories.”

“That’s good for me then and I hope good for you as I’d like to offer you the position of Assistant Project Manager.”  Jack went on to explain about the site and told him about Damien and Chris.

Half an hour later Ianto and Jack were laughing at some of the things that had happened to them or people they knew on site.

“Well Ianto, do I take it that you’ll come and work with me on this project?”

“Yes….yes, I will thank you.”

“No, you have Owen to thank.  There’s a Health and Safety Induction tomorrow I’d like you to be there if it’s not going to be a problem?”

“Nope, no problem at all.”  Ianto stood and held his hand out for Jack to shake.  Jack stood and took the hand, again there was that tingle down his spine.  He wondered if Ianto had noticed.  Stop it Jack, what did Owen say?  He’s just had a nasty split from his girlfriend.

Jack smiled and walked with Ianto to the door.  “Ok, Mr Jones….sorry Ianto, we’ll see you here tomorrow at 10am.  Thank you for coming in at such short notice.”

“No, thank you Mr Harkness, this job is what I need to get back on my feet again.  See you tomorrow.”

“By the way, if we’re going to be working closely in the same office, it’s Jack.”

“Ok, Jack, see you tomorrow.”  Ianto bid Dawn a goodbye and as he left the office he didn’t see Jack watching him.

Jack was smiling again as he made his way back into his office.  Mmm nice arse.  Jack stop right there.  But he couldn’t get the curve of the young man’s arse in the trousers out of his mind.  You’re going to have to find out more about this young man.  He shook his head, trying to think back to the last time someone had had this effect on him.  This job has just become more interesting.
